Z is for the Zebra Longwing,
as pretty as can be.
She's flown across the alphabet,
from letters A to Z.

In the Glare

The glare of sunrise
deceives my eyes.
Heat waves ripple.
Tropical birds fill my ears
with exotic cries.
Expectations triple.
Am I in a jungle?
Panthers roam here.
Or in the Amazon?
Gators feel at home here.
Am I in a desert
where it's hot and dry?
Well, the Glades
are hot all right.
But they're not dry!
And the only zebra
I can see
is the zebra
butterfly.
